Setting up of Water treatment plants in Challuru and Veerareddipalli villages of Nalgonda district, Andhra Pradesh, India - 09 Apr 09

Dear Brothers and Sisters,sairam

Here is a report by our Brother Col Sundar on our visit to Challur and Veerareddipalli villages in Nalgonda district on Thursday the 9th of April. These places are suffering from lack of quality drinking water and we are now planning for setting up the facility soonest by the end of May 2009.

One place has fluoride and the other high level of Total dissolved solids-This facility technically is going to be different from what we have done earlier.Perhaps no where else-Tata Projects is providing the know how.

To oversee the civil and installation works here I am looking forward to our members Contribution in terms of their time and expertise. This is going to be a one month work schedule.
Please respond to let me know your interest in participation.

Look forward to your support and best wishes. Now read the Report and enjoy !

Thanks love and regards

Setting up of Water treatment plants in Challuru and Veerareddipalli villages of Nalgonda district, Andhra Pradesh, India - 09 Apr 09

Dear All,

Loving Sai Rams to you .

By Swami’s Divine Grace, Shri Ch Srinivasulu and Shri C B Nataraja from Tata Projects Ltd, accompanied, by a SSSVIP active workers team including the District President Hyderabad District, Shri H Srinivasulu, and Shri Ramesh Reddy from Mallapur village visited Challuru, followed by Veerareddipalli.

Out of the seven functioning bore wells in Challuru, the one near the Primary school of the village was chosen for water purification. The 2 inch bore is supplying adequate water to the 4800 strong population of the village. This water is stored in an overhead tank from where water is supplied to the entire village through a system of well laid out underground pipes. The TDS (Total Dissolved Salts) of this Borewell is 1600 ppm (desirable less than 500 ppm), the turbidity 3.5 ppm (desirable 1 ppm) and the fluoride content .68 ppm (desirable less than 1 ppm). The water plant will bring down the TDS and turbidity of the water to the desired levels. The fluoride content is within permissible limits. The Village Panchayat is willing to give a 17’ x 7’ x 12’ room for the setting up of the plant.

The Team visited Veerareddipalli next. Out of the two functioning borewells of the village one was chosen. The water supply is adequate to take care of the 2300 population of the village .The TDS (Total Dissolved Salts) of this Borewell is 567 ppm (desirable less than 500 ppm), the fluoride content 1.25 ppm (desirable less than 1 ppm). The Water treatment plant here would have an additional Fluoride remover unit which will remove the fluoride (2.5 ppm) from the waste water and recycle 45 to 55% of the same which would have otherwise gone waste. Such a set up is being tried for the first time in India by the Tatas. The village panchayat is willing to give a plot of land for the setting up of the plant.
