TECH GROUP 15TH SESSION PROCEEDINGS

LOVE ALL-SERVE ALL AND HELP EVER- HURT NEVER

SRI SATHYA SAI SEVA ORGANISATION

TECHNO E MEDIA GROUP

PROCEEDINGS OF THE 15TH SESSION

HELD ON 20TH OF NOVEMBER 2008

AT PRASANTHI NILAYAM

The session commenced at 10.15 am with three times Om Karam seeking Bhagawan’s blessings.

The attendance was poor in the beginning and later picked up although not adequate enough.

The All India President attended this session and stayed for a couple of presentations and had to leave for another important meeting at the University.

The President was concerned about thin attendance and members not coming on scheduled time for the meeting. He pointed out to members that once a meeting is scheduled it should be attended as a priority over other matters.

He directed the group coordinator to submit a list of nominated members in each state and the participation status.

The group coordinator Sri Srinivasulu, welcomed technology group members and distinguished members from the industry that have come to present their papers.

The Coordinator had briefed the members on the concept and objectives of the Technology group for the benefit of the new comers. He thanked them for their contribution and work that is being carried out at various places in the field of water purification, agro services and sanitation.

He observed that although work is being carried out-reporting is inadequate. He requested the details of the work done with pictures of the projects and beneficiaries. This is required as the TEG is working on production of film on the group activity by the coming guru Poornima in July 2009.

He introduced the various speakers of the day to the audience and commenced the session.

1. ECO- SUSTAINABLE PROJECTS TECHNOLOGIES-By Sri Mario Grzinic

ENVIRON TECH/ENVIRON LIVING.

The first speaker was Sri Mario Grzininc from the eco-sustainable technologies. Sri Mario is an environmental control and management consultant- equipment producer and supplier operating presently from Ponduchery in Tamilnadu.

He has several of the gadgets that are eco friendly and useful for the urban and rural utility.

He has presented some of the equipment like the solar panels made of a variety of reflectors that are extremely efficient and productive compared to the presently available equipment supplied by many companies in India. There are many like the solar panels, generators, chargers, lighting equipment, wind turbines, solar lights eco friendly toilets that does not depend on water flushing.

Our interest from what has been shown is on the vertical turbine model that is most suitable for mounting on the roof top of a village home. We learn that this equipment is made of fiber glass vanes and extremely light, durable and does not require a gear box for speed control. It has practically no maintenance cost.

We learnt that there are several sizes available from 1 kilowatt to 10 kilowatt for various applications. The approximate cost for the lowest range is about Rs One Lac at the current currency exchange rate.

By connecting this turbine to four one watt LED lamps in a single dwelling in a village we can light up 250 homes. This is unbelievable, true and amazing.

Incidentally another speaker Dr.Radhakrishna who happened to be in the meeting had actually brought a sample of the LED assembly and lighted up to show its efficiency to the audience. It actually throws as much as a 25 watt lamp. This costs Rs 150 each-made in Rajahamundry incidentally. He is ready to make these for us.

The other equipment of our interest is the solar street lighting equipment with an aesthetic appearance, light weight and high efficiency and low power consumption for a given luminescence.

It appears that on first thoughts these will be suitable for any remote tribal or agency areas in our SSS VIP locations where power is a problem.

Sri Mario has been asked to be in touch and requested to provide cost and supply details for us to consider for our projects.

2. VASPER GREEN TECHNOLOGIES-PAPER HONEY COMB-Eco friendly

By Sri M.R.Naren-Bangalore

This company produces packing pads from the waste paper and glue. The products such as packing pads of various sizes and applications are made totally with three women and a man combination with simple equipment that requires no electriciaty. The equipment is manually operated. The company is ready to provide raw materials and know how free to our organization and even ready to take back the entire produce.

The speaker Sri MR.Naren who is former white field Alumni said that each person operating this process can earn Rs 100 to 150 a day. A unit like this with four members in a village can earn Rs 12 to 18000 a month. The equipment required for this production costs Rs 2500 a piece and loans can be arranged from banks at 4% interest.

This produce is called Paper Honey Comb packing and a number of samples were shown by Sri Naren. He has also shown some of the samples that are made for partitions and simple furniture parts that are made out of waste paper. He guarantees compression tests and for durability.

In fact he wants us to see his manufacturing unit in Bangalore to get convinced on the opportunities. He is building a house with these materials that can be completed in

Rs 40,000 a unit in three days ready for occupation.

I think we need to see the opportunities it extends in our SSS VIP village cluster village folks on an experimental basis at least in a couple of places with Vaspar Green Technologies know how and assistance.

3. BIO FUELS –RENEWABLE AND NEW TECHNOLOGIES-

By Dr P.Radhakrishna -Director New Technologies-Government of IndiaNew Delhi

.Dr Radhakrishna specialized in bio fuels and technologies that are most needed on a rural situation. He has actually made a study for a period of ten days in prasanthinilayam energy utilization practices at Gokulam, kitchen garbage and heating practices adopted in the canteen.

He says that 400 plus cattle in the Gokulam yields about 6.5 tons of cow dung that can generate 300 cubic meters of bio gas a day for heating or lighting needs. This is equal to 135 liters of diesel or 500 quintals of fire wood or 9 gas cylinders every day costing

Rs 20 lakhs every year. Huge money indeed?

Similarly the vegetable garbage and excess food thrown out on any peak day is about 4 tons which can yield another 300 cubic meters of gas.

He feels that we can convert this into to useful energy for saving the power and fuel bills every month.

He cited an example of heating water for rice preparation in the kitchen where 30C water is heated to 100 C + steam by gas burners which is enormous waste. He suggests heating water from 30 C to 80 C by solar panels installed on the roof top can save enormous fuel and then send this water to heat rice vessels.

He says that government department in his ministry has provision for subsidizing this kind of initiatives and providing loans at 3%.

He emphasized the use of these technologies in rural locations as in our SSS VIP and he is ready to provide his support free of cost any where in India any time.

4. VEDIC AGRO CULTURE by Dr.Selvaraj-Head of Horticulture Research-Tamilnadu Agro University-Ooty

.He has emphasized on the need to farming practices by organic means also termed as Vedic Agricultural practice.

1. Soil condition deteriorates on account of chemicals used in fertilizers, pesticides

2. Cow population declining-neglect of ancient practices

3. Extensive dependence on chemicals leads to ground water contamination.

4.These leading to all kinds of chronic and deadly diseases.

He emphasized the need to realize that the cow and tree are essential fundamental starting points for Vedic agro practice-He says- what the crop needs is water, air, temperature, carbon dioxide and nutrients.

He explained the proportions and combinations of PANCHAGAVAYA/DASAGAVAYA preparation for best yields and quality, quality of the vegetables. He explained on Bio dynamic compost/Vermin compost usages

He also explained on the principles of Pranic and magnetic therapies for the growth and yield as in potatoes and other vegetables.-He showed huge difference in quality and quantity.

Dr.Selvaraj mentioned that they have not been using chemical based products for the past 15 years in their farms. He has excellent results to demonstrate and ready to share the know-how and practices with all concerned.

We recognized that we can adopt some of these practices in our SSS VIP locations.

5. ORISSA FLOOD DEVASTATION AND DISASTER-DAMAGE CONTROL-SWAMI’S GRACE by Sri Sachithananda Mahapatra

Sri Sachithananda Mahapatra is our Orissa Tech group member.

He presented his paper on the recent flood havoc that destroyed a big chunk of Orissa village clusters-The damage caused to human, homes, cattle, crops, roads, drinking water, epedamics etc.

We learn that-37 lakhs people got affected, 8.4 lacks cattle died-6743 villages’ marooned-51417 homes destroyed-1900 roads damaged-cooked food supplied to 10 lakhs-72 deaths occurred.

Bhagawan on coming to know the facts and figures and seeing pictures of disaster- in HIS infinite mercy allotted Rs 10 crores for constructing homes for the poor in Orissa. He has sent the AIP Sri Srinivasan, Sri Kondal Rao and Sri Ramakrishna of L& T for assessment, planning of proper homes for the needy with the support and coordination of the chief secretary of the state

The committee thus formed studied and has evolved a working plan and designs for suitable homes to construct homes on a piece of land measuring 26x36 feet with 304 square foot plinth area comprising a verandah, a room, a kitchen and a toilet. The estimated cost could be around Rs one Lac each.Bhagawan specially instructed the concerned to keep the construction architecture adhere to the cultural practices of the state and India.

Sri Mahapatra has shown the devastation in the form of pathetic pictures taken during that time. He has shown how the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organization of Orissa has served 2 lacs of poor that were rendered home less and food less at that time.

6. WATER SHED ESTABLISHMENT-MANAGEMENT AND BENEFITS

By Sri Sunny Babu our group member from East Godavari.AP

He is currently looking after the Flag ship SSS VIP tasks of the 25 villages that have been taken up for service in this district.

He demonstrated and presented how water shed establishment and management can transform the tribal living in to prosperity by cultivating the surroundings with vegetable and kitchen gardens, fruit and flower farms in each home and surroundings.

Although a small beginning is made here, it is along and continuous journey that needs our efforts and HIS grace all the way.

He presented in the picture and fact form the various works that have been taken up in these areas-He has shown how intercrops can be grown and how they need to fence the crops etc.

The aim is to make them self reliant, supportive and provide nutrients for better health and living.

The Group coordinator thanked all the members and requested the speakers to supply their presentations in the CD form for uploading in our web site for the benefit of all our members for reference and follow up
